Furniture carved from the grain out. Where the joiner stops, the sculptor begins.
Featured
The grain is not decoration. It is the beginning.
Every piece starts with a board of solid oak. We look at the grain, the knots, the density and the direction of the fibres before deciding how to work it.
The joinery gives the furniture its structure. Then the sculptor takes over.
We draw away the softer fibres by hand and leave the harder wood behind. A flat board becomes something with relief — ridges, hollows, shadows and a surface that changes beneath the hand.
It is new oak, but it carries the feeling of timber that has spent years exposed to rain, water and weather.
We are not trying to make every piece identical.
We are trying to find out what is already there.
